Mission Statement of The Wagner Ensemble

Voices are the primary communicators. Choral voices in song can take the listener and the performer on the transcendent journey of a musical phrase, evoke passions ranging fromr despair to ecstasy and reveal order amid the apparent chaos of life's experiences.

The goals of The Wagner Ensemble are: to communicate music's beauty and meaning by perpetuating and expanding upon a tradition of excellence in the performance of classical choral music spanning five centuries, and to provide opportunities for professional growth for conductors and singers.

It is our mission to:

  • present a diverse repertoire which highlights the relationship between music of earlier times and the classical music of modern composers
  • train a select group of 24-30 singers, under professional leadership, to develop flexibility of style, color, tone quality and vocal production which conveys the beauty of the musical form and the full impact of the text.
  • provide an annual concert series which enriches the educational and cultural life of the community;
  • provide talented young artists a means to expand their musical education and experience by offering concert performance opportunities.
